Become a LOPPSI2 Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device (IID) inspector
Do you want to become an Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device inspector? Our teams are at your service to explain the qualification processes.
The regulatory context
A request for periodic verification is made by the holder of the IID to an inspector qualified to carry out this inspection. This inspection must be made at least once a year, and involves checking that the device is still compliant with the applicable requirements.
The inspector carries out the periodic inspection evaluation and tests described in the technical specifications for the alcohol ignition interlock device fitted to motorised vehicles using dry gas, the measured value of which lies between 0.25 mg/l and 0.5 mg/l.
If the IID satisfies the regulations applicable to periodic inspection, the inspector stamps the IID with an inspection mark indicating the month and year of the next inspection if necessary. He/She changes the inspection date recorded in the device. The inspector delivers a periodic inspection certificate.
Become a qualified inspector
To become qualified, inspectors must implement and maintain a quality system for their inspection activities based either on standard NF EN ISO 9001 or standard NF EN ISO/IEC 17020, particularly with regard to the technical equipment, procedures, skills and guarantees of impartiality in the context of periodic IID inspection.
In view of qualification, inspectors must demonstrate the compliance of their quality system:
- With the requirements of the decree of 13 July 2012
- With the requirements of the appropriate above-mentioned standard applied to periodic IID inspections
- With the requirements of the IID manufacturer, defined in the type certificate in particular
